National Recycling Week 13-19 November

Nov 15, 2024

National Recycling Week (13-19 November) is a great opportunity for your Sydney office to step up its sustainability efforts while supporting local initiatives. Here’s how you can make a difference, both in the office and around the St Leonards and beyond!

Get Involved At Space207

  1. Make Sure to Always Use the Correct Bins!
Recycling is made easy at Space207 – all bins are clearly labelled for paper, plastics/glass, e-waste and general waste.
  2. Recycle E-Waste Responsibly
Host an office-wide e-waste collection and take old electronics down to the loading dock!
  3. Go Paperless
Encourage digital workflows and print only when necessary! Use recycled paper and print double-sided to reduce waste.
  4. Bring Your Own Reusables
Promote the use of reusable coffee cups, water bottles, and lunch containers to cut down on single-use plastics.

Get Involved Locally….

  1. Join a Community Clean-Up
Participate in a clean-up event at one of Sydney’s beautiful beaches or parks, such as those organized by Clean Up Australia or Take 3 for the Sea.
  2. Support Local Recycling Initiatives
Drop off soft plastics at REDcycle bins in participating supermarkets. Collect used clothes and textiles for programs like Dressed for Success, Upparel or donate them to Vinnies or Salvos.
  3. Attend a Sustainability Workshop
North Sydney Council, often runs workshops during National Recycling Week on recycling and sustainable living.
  4. Visit a Recycling or Resource Recovery Facility
Book a tour of the Kimbriki Eco House & Garden in Terrey Hills or a local recycling centre to see how materials are processed and reused.
  5. Partner with Sydney Businesses
Collaborate with local cafes or businesses for reusable initiatives, like Responsible Cafes, which encourage bringing your own cup or container for discounts. Visit Sana Social with your own keep cup and take 50c off your coffee!

Make It Fun…

  1. Hold a Green Challenge
Run a friendly competition to see which team can reduce their waste the most or collect the most recyclables.
  2. Host a Swap Event
Organise a “Swap & Share” day at work for books, clothes, and office supplies. It’s a great way to reuse items and promote a sharing culture.

Let’s make National Recycling Week a time for action and inspiration, both in the office and within our local community. Together, we can build a more sustainable future! 🌏♻️
