Each year in August, Australians across the country come together in a show of solidarity, hope, and generosity for one of Cancer Council’s most beloved annual events, Daffodil Day.
What is Daffodil Day?
Daffodil Day is Cancer Council’s most iconic and much-loved annual campaign that raises life-saving funds for world-class cancer research. It’s a time of hope, where people come together to show support for the 150,000 Australians diagnosed with cancer each year.
Why the daffodil?
The daffodil, as a symbol, represents hope and new life. It blooms in spring, which is associated with rebirth and overcoming difficulties. To Cancer Council, and those affected by cancer, the daffodil represents hope for a cancer-free future. It’s a small but powerful flower that carries a big message.
Making a real difference
Every dollar raised through Daffodil Day goes directly towards Cancer Council’s vital work. Funds help support cancer research, cancer prevention, and people affected by cancer. This initiative has already made a huge impact, where Australians raised over $3.3 million towards lifesaving cancer research in 2024. That money funds the breakthroughs that improve survival rates and change lives.
